Provocative question, one that some people ask of themselves everyday. It is very interesting to hear that others share your regrets in choosing the profession they chose.
I think it’s interesting to hear how many people would have done something that would have required more education than they currently have. Guess there’s always regrets when you don’t finish all the schooling you wanted to.
I never really pondered this question as deeply before. I find it interesting how often I heard people say they’d go into law or become a lawyer. Maybe the system is such that people feel they need to fix it. I don’t have a “career” as such, but am now working towards one.
It came as no real surprise that most people if they had the chance to do it all over again would have chosen a different profession. Very few people get to have their dream job, thats why its so rare to hear a person say that they love their job. Hindsight is 20/20 and we would all love a second chance.
That is a VERY interesting question. I was fortunate to have the same job for 21 years without going to college. I was a Closing Specialist for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. I currently am a stay at home mom. But if I were to go back to work I would probably NOT go back into the mortgage business. The job I had was very stressful. If I were able to, I probably would go to college and do something where I would be able to work with children or help children in some way.
Really astonishing video session and it gave me the lost days of my life before 10 years. I will definitively choose the last profession probably. This video session has put me in sweet souvenirs. Thanks a lot.
Well, I’m a teacher with twenty years of experience. And, ok, sometimes I feel bad about it and think ‘why did I choose this profession?’, but then I continue to think and I feel that it’s the work I real wanted and still want. There always times when you feel tired, but that doesn’t mean if you change you’ll be more satisfied. As we say here: “The neighbour’s chicken is always fatter than mine”.
Career regret is a common theme. I think most people basically get “stuck” working to pay the bills instead of sacrificing to land their dream job. While it is admirable to be gainfully employed, its also a little sad to spend the bulk of your life doing something you don’t love. Is this job what you saw yourself doing as a kid? Probably not.
that is a good question it makes you think back and reflect on your life and the route that you took to get there and it make u think was it worth it meaninig the stress that some people go through on a daily basis regarding their job.
Among the 15, 9 persons said “No” for this question and would be pursuing a different job/studies if given a chance. Most of them are very keen on taking a law course, environmental studies or biology. Of those who will stick to their current profession said they love the job they are in now. These people make up the remaining 40% of the respondents. My opinion is that this study proves the general perception that most people don’t like their current profession, to be true!
i really enjoy watching the video.yes i agree that topic, when u feel satisfy in our profession, u will change it.some people go through on a daily basis regarding their job,
This video was especially timely for me since I’ve been thinking about my own career path lately and whether to change directions. When I chose my career, it was based on passion. Unfortunately, passion does not pay the bills. I’ve decided that in order to succeed I have to carve my own path, within the field. This drive to be successful will keep me in the same field and build my expertise.
I think alot of people would change their minds mainly due to the fact if they knew what then they know now with the economy in the gutter. They might of picked a better path as not to have to deal so much with the current unemployment/forclosure issues.
Good question and one that we sometimes
ask ourselves but I like the way it was
put together. Great answers too.
I think it’s a great way to look
or focus more into the present on
what’s going on and so on and
what needs improvements…Things
like that and Thank you.
I think most of not all of us would go back and do things over again if we had the chance. That is what is so great about life, you live and you learn from your experiences whether they are positive or negative.
No Way! Being a little “Older” and, hopefully “Wiser”…If I could start over again, I’d do what I wanted to do 40 years ago, and STILL want to do right now! And, I’m working on it!
Interesting video and good question. I’m not sure whether I would have gone into a different profession – you never know how it would have actually turned out, so you can’t really tell whether you would have been better or worse off.
Yeah I would! I work on the internet full time now. I used to commute 2 1/2 hours a day (one way)…now my commute is 2 2/1 seconds a day (turn the corner from the bedroom into the office)

This is, of course, a common question, but put in a very interesting way. I really enjoyed watching this video, it was very informative.

Yes, i would go into another profession, probably having something to do with massage therapy or computers.

I like my job now….I don’t think I have a plan to change my career…especially when considering my previous job was totally awful.

Of course I’d love to have been a rock star or something like that, but, come on…
I feel that my life’s journey needed to go through what I went through to get me to where I am now…
So…no, I wouldn’t change it
I’m at a good place…even if I wasn’t a rock star!
